Q: Was ist WSi? A: Buchstabe für Buchstabe: „We – Es – I“. Q: Was ist Costonaut? Q: Welche Fertigungsverfahren berechnet WSi? A: WSi kalkuliert Laser-, Plasma- und Wasserstrahlschneiden, Rohrschneiden, Gesenkbiegen und Schwenkbiegen, Schweißen und weitere Fügeverfahren sowie Oberflächenbehandlungen wie Pulverbeschichten, Lackieren und Feuerverzinken – insgesamt mehr als 70 Prozesse. Eigene Prozesse lassen sich ergänzen. Q: Kann WSi ganze Baugruppen kalkulieren? A: Ja. A: Ja. Q: Welche Formate exportiert WSi? Windows and Linux. WSi – sheet metal costing software. WSi is sheet metal costing software that calculates parts and assemblies straight from the CAD file: it reads STEP, DXF and GEO, breaks assemblies down into single parts, sets up the work steps for each part and calculates times, costs and tiered prices. WSi models manufacturing as a graph: one node per work step, each with its own geometry, times and costs. Walk the graph of a real order in 3D – a trade-show grill made of a base plate and a grate. Drag to orbit Open Open STEP, DXF, GEO or a WSi project. The grill arrives as a STEP assembly. Break down WSi breaks the assembly down into single parts – here the base plate and the grate – and classifies each as a sheet metal, tube or purchase part. Unfold Every sheet metal part is unfolded, with the bend deduction from your bend tables. That builds the graph: sheet, laser cutting, die bending, joining. Nest WSi nests sheet metal parts on the sheet and tube parts along the bar length. Five grills fill about 30% of a 3,000 × 1,500 mm sheet. Cut Cutting time follows from contour length, pierces and the machine's motion parameters: 41 contours and 5,906 mm on the base plate, 41 contours and 7,945 mm on the grate. Calculate Setup and unit times give the cost per node, and the nodes together give the grill's tiered prices. Process graph The production graph: every node a work step. This is the graph WSi created for the trade-show grill: one sheet, laser cutting and die bending for each part, and finally joining into the assembly. Below each node are the values WSi determines there. sheet The raw material. How much of it a part uses, WSi works out from the nesting on the sheet. plate_cut Base plate Laser cutting the base plate. Contours, cut length and pierces, together with the motion parameters, determine the unit time. grate_cut Grate The same for the grate: less area but more cut length than the base plate. plate_bend Base plate Die bending the base plate. Tool and bend deduction come from your bend tables; the tool choice can be overridden. grate_bend Grate Die bending the grate, with its own setup and unit time. assembly Joining into the assembly. This is where the part branches meet, and where the grill's tiered prices are. Work steps Which manufacturing steps does WSi calculate? WSi calculates more than 70 sheet metal manufacturing processes. WSi creates cutting, bending, countersinking and joining automatically on import; you add coating, tapping and your own processes. Sheet cutting sheetCutting Laser cutting with nitrogen or oxygen, plasma and waterjet cutting. WSi nests the parts on the sheet and calculates the cutting time from contour length, pierces, speed and acceleration. Tube cutting tubeCutting Tubes and profiles, nested along the bar length. Bending sheetBending Die bending and sheet metal folding, with bend deduction per material, thickness and tool. Countersinking countersinking WSi recognises countersinks from the hole geometry. Tapping tapping Threads to ISO M, UNC and more; the time follows from the thread depth. Machining machining Drilling, milling, turning and sawing. Deburring and finishing deburring Manual and automatic deburring, vibratory finishing and cleaning. Welding welding MIG, MAG and TIG, spot and stud welding; you choose the welding process per joint. Costonaut – the AI CRM for sheet metal manufacturers. A CRM (customer relationship management system) keeps every customer, contact and conversation in one place. Costonaut is an AI CRM built for sheet metal: it collects requests from email, upload and web form, its AI Buzz drafts the calculation, and every request becomes a quote your customer accepts online. Open the portal Buzz · AI assistant Buzz drafts the first calculation for every request. Buzz is the AI in Costonaut: as soon as a request's files are in, Buzz drafts a first calculation approach, with material, geometry and whatever parameters can be read off the files filled in. Your sales team reviews and adjusts instead of starting from scratch. Calculation drafts from the CAD files The uploaded CAD files and the request's own description become a calculation draft. A live log of every step A running log shows in real time which step Buzz is on and which file Buzz is working through. Questions when details are missing When a detail is missing or a drawing is ambiguous, Buzz raises a structured question in the request thread. Your answer feeds into the next draft. Your own terms for parts and processes You tune the terms Buzz uses for parts and processes to your own terminology. Inbox over IMAP, a Microsoft work or school account or a Google Workspace account Embeddable request form with protection against automated abuse STEP, DXF, GEO, WSi projects, PDF, office documents and images ZIP and 7z archives, .eml, .msg and winmail.dat are unpacked Design No CAD file? Buzz creates a design. When a request comes with only a photo, a sketch or a PDF drawing, Buzz builds a part from it that can be calculated. The result is marked as generated: a draft for quoting, not for production. Photos, scans, sketches and PDF drawings The generated file names its source Automatic when a request has no CAD file, or on demand for any file Calculation The calculation comes back as a bill of materials. Costonaut calculates the request and returns a complete bill of materials, with any warning called out where it belongs. Nothing is copied by hand. Assemblies broken down into single parts Drawings and documents attached to each article Quote The bill of materials becomes the quote. A calculated bill of materials becomes a quote in a few steps. Surcharges and quantity breaks flow in automatically, every revision is kept without losing the one before, and articles you have priced before turn up again with their delivery dates. Surcharges and quantity breaks per tenant Quote PDF in your own layout: header, footer, typeface, structure Quotes can also be priced entirely by hand Decision Your customer accepts online. Through a personal link your customer reviews the quote online and accepts or declines it; the outcome lands in the quote's history at once. Until then the correspondence stays in the request's thread, and Costonaut reminds your team to follow up before a quote lapses. Emails, sent and received, in the request's thread Companies and contacts in one place, duplicates merged Every open request at a glance, by stage ERP Accepted means: in your ERP. An accepted quote should not have to be typed into your ERP a second time. Costonaut reports the acceptance to your ERP system by webhook, bill of materials included. A notice to your ERP the moment a quote is accepted Export a request's files for downstream use Made for sheet metal, run in Germany. A CRM that knows sheet metal A general-purpose CRM tracks customers, contacts and deals. Costonaut also reads CAD files and calculates parts, so a request becomes a quote without leaving the CRM. A: It combines the founders and the laser: W stands for Dr. Christoph Weiß, S for Florian Sepp and “optics” for laser optics – WSoptics’ first developments were for laser cutting machines. Q: What is WSi? A: WSi is software for costing and work preparation of sheet metal parts and assemblies. It reads CAD files, breaks assemblies down into single parts, lays out every manufacturing step, and calculates times, costs and tiered prices from that. Q: How do you pronounce WSi? A: Letter by letter: “double-u – ess – eye”. Q: What is Costonaut? A: Costonaut is a CRM for sheet metal manufacturers: software that keeps customers, contacts and requests in one place and carries every request from arrival to accepted quote. It collects requests from email, upload and web form, calculates them and turns the bill of materials into a quote your customer accepts online. Q: What is WSi Shop? A: WSi Shop is your own online shop for sheet metal parts: your customers upload STEP or DXF files, choose material and finishing and see their price at once. WSi calculates every part, and WSoptics runs the shop on its own servers at its headquarters in Germany, under your domain. Q: Which file formats can WSi import? A: WSi imports STEP, DXF and GEO files, as well as its own WSi project files. STEP files are read with their assembly structure; DXF files containing several parts are split apart in the 2D editor. Q: Which manufacturing processes does WSi calculate? A: WSi costs laser, plasma and waterjet cutting, tube cutting, die bending and sheet metal folding, welding and other joining processes, and surface treatments such as powder coating, painting and hot-dip galvanising – more than 70 processes in all. Custom processes can be added. Q: Can WSi cost entire assemblies? A: Yes. WSi explodes whole assemblies automatically and categorises sheet metal parts, tube parts and purchased parts, without you having to break the assembly apart by hand. Q: Does WSi integrate with my ERP system? A: Yes. WSi sends the bill of materials and the process graph to your ERP system as JSON, over HTTP or as a file. IT-Blech and Trumpf Oseon have their own dedicated interfaces. Q: Which formats does WSi export? A: Geometry as STEP, DXF, SVG, GEO and glTF; bills of materials as JSON and CSV; bending drawings and routing slips as PDF or DOCX; and quotes as DOCX. Q: Can WSi run without a user interface? A: Yes. With wsicli, WSi runs script modules from the command line – for example to sync the database with your ERP system – or answers requests as an HTTP service. The script API is in JavaScript and TypeScript. Q: Is there a free trial? A: Yes, WSi can be trialled free of charge for 30 days. Any customisation made during the trial carries over when you move into production use. Q: What are the system requirements? A: WSi needs an x86_64 CPU with SSE4.2 and 16 GB of RAM (32 GB recommended). Supported operating systems are Windows 10 build 1809, Windows 11, Windows Server 2019 or newer, Ubuntu 24.04 or newer, Debian 13 or newer, Fedora 42 or newer, openSUSE Tumbleweed, and any other Linux distribution with glibc 2.39 or newer. Q: Which operating systems does WSi run on? A: WSi is available for Windows and Linux, not for macOS. The installers for the latest version are at the top of the WSi page. Q: What happened to WSi4? A: WSi4 is now called WSi. It is the same software under a new name; existing licences continue unchanged. Q: Do I need WSi to use Costonaut? A: Costonaut calculates with WSi: Buzz starts the run in the background and the result comes back into the request as a bill of materials. Nothing needs to be installed on your side. If you work with WSi at your desk, you can open a request in WSi and send the result back to Costonaut. Q: Does Costonaut replace WSi? A: No. Costonaut is the CRM around the calculation: requests, customers, quotes and follow-up. The calculation runs in WSi. Q: Which files can customers send? A: CAD files in STEP, DXF and GEO, WSi projects, PDF and office documents, and images. Archives such as ZIP and 7z are unpacked, as are emails saved as .eml or .msg and winmail.dat attachments. Q: Does Buzz pass drawings to external AI providers? A: No. Buzz runs on servers at WSoptics' headquarters in Germany; drawings and request texts are not passed to an external AI provider. Q: Where is my data processed, and what about the GDPR? A: In Germany: Costonaut and Buzz run on servers at WSoptics' headquarters. Your data is stored there and processed under the GDPR, and drawings and request texts do not go to an external AI provider. Q: Can I create quotes without AI? A: Yes. A quote can be priced entirely by hand whenever you want. Q: How does an accepted quote reach my ERP? A: The moment your customer accepts, Costonaut reports the acceptance to your ERP system by webhook, bill of materials included. A request's files can be exported as well. Q: Who runs Costonaut, and who sees my data? A: WSoptics runs Costonaut at its headquarters in Germany. Every manufacturer works in its own isolated tenant, and WSoptics sees no more of your data than running the platform requires. Q: Which files can my customers upload? A: STEP, DXF, GEO and WSi projects. The shop splits STEP assemblies into their parts. A customer without a CAD file can build simple parts from standard shapes and profiles right in the shop. Q: Who runs the shop? A: WSoptics runs your shop on its own servers at its headquarters in Germany, under your domain. You look after your customers and orders, not servers. Q: How does the shop get my look? A: Every shop has its own design with your logo, colours and fonts, plus your templates for quotes, order confirmations and invoices. Q: What reaches me with an order? A: The order package: order confirmation, delivery note, job cards, XRechnung, the WSi project with its bill of materials and every part as STEP, DXF and PDF drawing. Q: Do I need to install WSi? A: No. The shop calculates with WSi on WSoptics' servers. If you work with WSi yourself, open an order's WSi project directly in WSi. ## Upcoming events — https://www.wsoptics.de/en/events/ - EuroBLECH 2026, October 20 – 23, 2026, Hannover Exhibition Grounds, Hanover · Hall 11, Booth A111 - FABTECH 2026, October 21 – 23, 2026, Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas · Central Hall, Booth C2752 ## Imprint — https://www.wsoptics.de/en/imprint/ E-Mail: info@wsoptics.de Phone: +49 8861 92801 00 **WSoptics GmbH** Südliche Keltenstraße 3 86972 Altenstadt Germany HRB 204558 Place of jurisdiction: München B VAT No.: DE289079930 CEOs: Florian Sepp, Dr. Christoph Weiß ## Privacy Policy — https://www.wsoptics.de/en/terms/ ## Privacy Policy Personal data (usually referred to just as "data" below) will only be processed by us to the extent necessary and for the purpose of providing a functional and user-friendly website, including its contents, and the services offered there. Per Art. 4 No. 2 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679, i.e. the General Data Protection Regulation (hereinafter referred to as the "GDPR"), "processing" refers to any operation or set of operations such as collection, recording, organization, structuring, storage, adaptation, alteration, retrieval, consultation, use, disclosure by transmission, dissemination, or otherwise making available, alignment, or combination, restriction, erasure, or destruction performed on personal data, whether by automated means or not. The following privacy policy is intended to inform you in particular about the type, scope, purpose, duration, and legal basis for the processing of such data either under our own control or in conjunction with others. We also inform you below about the third-party components we use to optimize our website and improve the user experience which may result in said third parties also processing data they collect and control. Our privacy policy is structured as follows: I. Information about us as controllers of your data II. The rights of users and data subjects III. Information about the data processing ## I. Information about us as controllers of your data The party responsible for this website (the "controller") for purposes of data protection law is: WSoptics GmbH Südliche Keltenstraße 3 86972 Altenstadt Germany info@wsoptics.de +49 8861 92801 00 ## II. The rights of users and data subjects With regard to the data processing to be described in more detail below, users and data subjects have the right * to confirmation of whether data concerning them is being processed, information about the data being processed, further information about the nature of the data processing, and copies of the data (cf. also Art. 15 GDPR); * to correct or complete incorrect or incomplete data (cf. also Art. 16 GDPR); * to the immediate deletion of data concerning them (cf. also Art. 17 DSGVO), or, alternatively, if further processing is necessary as stipulated in Art. 17 Para. 3 GDPR, to restrict said processing per Art. 18 GDPR; * to receive copies of the data concerning them and/or provided by them and to have the same transmitted to other providers/controllers (cf. also Art. 20 GDPR); * to file complaints with the supervisory authority if they believe that data concerning them is being processed by the controller in breach of data protection provisions (see also Art. 77 GDPR). In addition, the controller is obliged to inform all recipients to whom it discloses data of any such corrections, deletions, or restrictions placed on processing the same per Art. 16, 17 Para. 1, 18 GDPR. However, this obligation does not apply if such notification is impossible or involves a disproportionate effort. Nevertheless, users have a right to information about these recipients. Likewise, under Art. 21 GDPR, users and data subjects have the right to object to the controller's future processing of their data pursuant to Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. f) GDPR. In particular, an objection to data processing for the purpose of direct advertising is permissible. ## III. Information about the data processing Your data processed when using our website will be deleted or blocked as soon as the purpose for its storage ceases to apply, provided the deletion of the same is not in breach of any statutory storage obligations or unless otherwise stipulated below. ### Server data For technical reasons, the following data sent by your internet browser to us or to our server provider will be collected, especially to ensure a secure and stable website: These server log files record the type and version of your browser, operating system, the website from which you came (referrer URL), the webpages on our site visited, the date and time of your visit, as well as the IP address from which you visited our site. The data thus collected will be temporarily stored, but not in association with any other of your data. The basis for this storage is Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest lies in the improvement, stability, functionality, and security of our website. The data will be deleted within no more than seven days, unless continued storage is required for evidentiary purposes. In which case, all or part of the data will be excluded from deletion until the investigation of the relevant incident is finally resolved. ### Online job applications / publication of job advertisements We offer you the opportunity to apply for jobs with our company via our website. In the case of these digital applications, we collect your application data electronically in order to process your application. The legal basis for this processing is §26 Para. 1 S. 1 BDSG in conjunction with Art. 88 Para. 1 GDPR. If you are hired as a result of the application process, we will store the data you provide during the application process in your personnel file for the purpose of the usual organizational and administrative process, naturally in compliance with further legal obligations. The legal basis for this processing is §26 Para. 1 S. 1 BDSG in conjunction with Art. 88 Para. 1 GDPR. If we do not hire you, we will automatically delete the data submitted to us two months after the final decision is made. We will not delete the data, however, if we must store the data for legal reasons such as evidence of equal treatment of applicants, until any legal action is concluded, or four months. In this case, the legal basis is Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. f) GDPR and §24 Para. 1 No. 2 BDSG. Our legitimate interest lies in any legal defense we may have to mount . If you expressly consent to a longer storage of your data, e.g. for your inclusion in a database of applicants or interested parties, the data will be processed further on the basis of your consent. The legal basis is then Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. a) GDPR. You may withdraw your consent at any time with future effect per Art. 7 Para. 3 GDPR with future effect. Sample Data Private Policy provided by the Law Offices of Weiß & Partner ### Use of Google Analytics We use Google Analytics to analyze website usage. The data obtained from this is used to optimize our website as well as advertising measures.  Google Analytics is provided to us by Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). Google processes website usage data on our behalf and is contractually committed to measures to ensure the security and confidentiality of the processed data. During your website visit, the following data is recorded, among others: * Pages viewed * The achievement of "website goals" (for example, contact requests and newsletter sign-ups) * Your behavior on the pages (for example, dwell time, clicks, scrolling behavior) * Your approximate location (country and city) * Your IP address (in shortened form, so that no clear assignment is possible) * Technical information such as browser, Internet provider, terminal device and screen resolution * Source of origin of your visit (i.e. via which website or advertising medium you came to us). No personal data such as name, address or contact details are ever transferred to Google Analytics. This data is transferred to Google servers in the USA. We would like to point out that the same level of protection under data protection law cannot be guaranteed in the USA as within the EU.  Google Analytics stores cookies in your web browser for a period of two years since your last visit. These cookies contain a randomly generated user ID with which you can be recognized during future website visits. The recorded data is stored together with the randomly generated user ID, which enables the evaluation of pseudonymous user profiles. This user-related data is automatically deleted after 14 months. Other data remains stored in aggregated form indefinitely. If you do not agree with the collection, you can prevent it with the one-time installation of the browser add-on to disable Google Analytics or by rejecting cookies via our cookie settings dialog. Source: traffic3.net ### Cookie settings On your first visit we ask which categories you allow: "Functionality" (contact form, meeting booking, videos) and "Analytics" (Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics, HubSpot tracking). Until you allow a category, our website makes no connection to third parties and sets no cookie other than the one that stores your choice. We store your choice in the cookie `cc_cookie` for 182 days. The legal basis is Section 25 (2) No. 2 TDDDG and Art. 6 (1) (c) GDPR, since we have to be able to prove your consent. You can change your choice at any time through the "Cookie settings" link and withdraw consent with effect for the future (Art. 7 (3) GDPR); the cookies of a withdrawn category are then deleted. ### Contact form and meeting booking (HubSpot) Our contact form and our booking calendar are provided by HubSpot (HubSpot Ireland Limited, 1 Sir John Rogerson's Quay, Dublin 2, Ireland; parent company HubSpot, Inc., 2nd Floor, 25 First Street, Cambridge, MA 02141, USA). Both load only once you allow the "Functionality" category; until then we offer a plain link or our email address instead. When they load, your browser transmits your IP address and technical information to HubSpot. When you submit the form or book a meeting, HubSpot processes the data you enter (for example name, email address, company, message, chosen time) on our behalf so that we can answer your request. Inside the form, HubSpot loads fonts from its own servers and from Google Fonts (Google Ireland Limited). The form is protected against abuse by Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). To do so, reCAPTCHA evaluates, among other things, your IP address and your behaviour on the page, and sets the cookie `_GRECAPTCHA` for up to six months. The legal basis for loading is your consent under Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR and Section 25 (1) TDDDG; for handling your request it is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR, or our legitimate interest in answering enquiries under Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. We delete your request once it has been dealt with, unless statutory retention obligations apply. HubSpot, Inc. and Google LLC are certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework; where data is transferred to the USA, the transfer is based on the European Commission's adequacy decision for it. ### Google Tag Manager and HubSpot tracking If you allow the "Analytics" category, we load Google Tag Manager (Google Ireland Limited), which includes Google Analytics and HubSpot's tracking script. Until then, Google Consent Mode signals analytics and advertising storage as denied. Our Google Analytics property is linked to Google's advertising services. Data is therefore also transmitted to Google servers at stats.g.doubleclick.net and google.de, which Google uses to build advertising audiences. HubSpot tracking records which pages you visit and sets the cookies `__hstc` and `hubspotutk` (up to six months), `__hssc` (30 minutes) and `__hssrc` (session) for this. If you later submit our contact form, HubSpot can link these visits to your request. The legal basis is your consent under Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR and Section 25 (1) TDDDG. When you withdraw it, the Google Analytics and HubSpot cookies are deleted. ### YouTube videos On our "About us" page we embed videos from YouTube (Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). They load only once you allow the "Functionality" category, and then in privacy-enhanced mode from youtube-nocookie.com. Until then we show only a link to the video on YouTube. On wide screens, a video then starts by itself without sound when you scroll to its entry, and pauses when you scroll on. When a video loads, your browser transmits, among other things, your IP address, the page you are on and technical information to YouTube. Once a video plays, YouTube may use cookies and similar technologies; if you are signed in to Google, YouTube can link the playback to your account. YouTube processes this data under its own responsibility; see Google's privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy. The legal basis is your consent under Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR and Section 25 (1) TDDDG. Google LLC is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. A: Sí. A: Sí. A: Sí. Q: ¿Costonaut reemplaza a WSi? A: Sí. A: STEP, DXF, GEO y proyectos WSi. ---
